Fright Fest 2012 - Costume Discount Edition
I think partly what I love about this submission is the blunt way the Bowtique owner presents her costume discount offer. It almost reads like she’s typing it on-the-go. I’m imagining a busy Bowtique owner (much like Diane Keaton in Baby Boom except dressed more like Cyndi Lauper) negotiating a stroller, several yards of tulle, a diaper bag, and a Trenta latte as she crosses a busy intersection while simultaneously typing with one hand, “20% off any costume…” and giggling to herself. I mean, OK, whoever answered her question had a 50% chance of getting it right, but that’s not the point. The point is, this Bowtique owner offered a discount to whoever could guess whether she had a C-section or a vaginal birth, and that is just plain funny. Ladies, are you with me here?? Coupons redeemed by guessing a mother’s delivery method! It doesn’t get better than that.
I also enjoy that the first three commenters don’t even bother guessing. They each had a 50% chance to win 20% off, but 100% of them said, “Cute costumes!” and ignored the Bowtique owner’s question altogether. After all, it would be weird to shop at a bricks-and-mortar store and, upon walking up to the checkout counter, be faced with a grinning Diane Keaton/Cyndi Lauper type who said, “…and if you can guess how I delivered my baby, I’ll give you 20% off!” So what makes hearing it online any less weird?
